Njie brings good news to Gambia College

Great news has reached the noses of the Gambia College Press Club (GCPC) to be dished out to the general student body from a trained PTC teacher ,Mr. Sanna Njie.

The news which was in the offing has now been established that a medical clinic will be instituted at the college’s campus pretty soon. In an exclusive interview with our reporter on the sideline of the handing over ceremony of the main union executive, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Helena’s Children Medical Clinic said his health centre aims to support and give excellent medical services to schools going pupils, students and communities.

Mr. Njie further said he has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education on how best to facilitate medical facility for school going children. “And many schools across the country are identified to benefit from this scheme as the medical care will be given yearly”, he said.

Mr. Njie also said he has signed an MOU with the College administration as well. Space is being allocated for him to build his clinic for college students and natives of Brikama. The clinic will entail modern medical facilities and trained Nurses and doctors will be deployed, according to Mr. Njie, while urging students to register with the clinic to benefit from his services.

“Therefore, if any student is interested with the medical services can kindly register with us by paying an amount of D300.00 for a year and you will be given a medical card which will give you the privilege to visit any of the Helena’s Children Medical Clinic across the country for a period of one year”, Njie explained.

Any medication you are prescribed for will be given to you free of charge, he added. Njie also called on all the students to join the scheme since it is something that is on their own advantage.

The vice Principal of the college, Madam Isatou Ndow confirmed the administration’s responsiveness to the project. She urged interested students to register with the clinic. However, she said in the long run they want all students to register. Madam Ndow said, according to the rules on the MOU, no students shall go outside to buy medication. Major health cases like operation and the like are exception, she added.
