School of Nursing and Midwifery

Quality Nursing Care

The Registered Nurse/Midwife is trained as a polyvalent nurse, and the tasks they perform are broad. Upon graduation, they play the roles of practitioner, an administrator, and manager.

A unique offering

Students are required to provide scientific basis of care of individuals across the lifespan from management of patients during illness and recovery to the reduction of risks for diseases and disability. The promotion of healthy lifestyles for those with or without chronic illnesses, and care of individuals at the end of life together with their families are among the core values of our products.

Midwives prepare mothers for Positive Pregnancy Experiences by helping couples in planning their families, giving care during pregnancy, labour and the Puerperium.

Our graduates are in charge of the Health centres and wards in the hospitals, where they strive to improve the quality of health service delivery and eventually contribute to the attainment of the health SDGs and the Gambia Government’s National Development Plan 2018-2021.
